Editorial and Accuracy Policy

Sources we use

• Gurpurab and historic dates: the SGPC Nanakshahi calendar.
• Holidays: Government of Punjab notifications.
• Desi and lunar dates: our own astronomical calculation, cross-checked against the SGPC calendar and printed Punjabi jantris.

Labelling

We mark information as official when it comes from a notification or the SGPC, calculated when we derive it, and expected when an official list is awaited. We do not guess moon-sighting dates.

Neutrality

On matters debated within the Sikh community we present the main positions fairly and do not advocate for any of them.

Original writing

All guides are written for this site. We do not copy text from other websites or publications.

Updates

The SGPC calendar is usually published around March, and the Punjab holiday list in November. We update the relevant pages after each is released.
